How the activity works

1

🤝 1. Welcome and gearing up

As soon as you arrive at the climbing site, your Takamaka instructor gives you a warm welcome and gets you fully kitted out: harness fitted, helmet secured, ropes checked. They walk you through the equipment, the key safety rules, and the basic vocabulary of climbing, so you feel confident before you've even touched the rock.
2

🧗 2. Introduction to basic techniques

Before you head up, you'll learn the ropes, literally! Your instructor teaches you the fundamental moves of climbing: how to place your feet, use your hands, balance your body on the rock, and communicate with your belayer. These first minutes at ground level set you up to climb with real confidence from the very first route.
3

🌄 3. First routes on the cliff face

This is what you came for! You tackle your first real route on the cliff face, with your instructor watching closely and cheering you on every step of the way. The volcanic Auvergne rock under your fingertips, the stunning landscape opening up as you climb higher, the unique feeling of making it to the top — every move is a small triumph. Routes are matched to your level, and the pace is always yours to set.
4

🎉 4. Debrief and discussion

Once the routes are done, the group gathers back at the base for a relaxed debrief. Your instructor highlights your achievements, answers any questions, and offers personalised tips if the climbing bug has bitten you. It's also the perfect moment to share stories, laughs, and group photos before heading home on a serious high.
