Description

Picture the starting line, catamarans lined up on the Lac d'Aydat, sails filling with the Auvergne wind and the signal firing. Régate à Voile is the nautical incentive near Clermont-Ferrand that turns your colleagues into competitive sailing crews for an afternoon. The format is the Olympic Triangle, the benchmark race in competitive sailing, with a finishing position recorded for every catamaran. Professional organisation, genuine racing sensations and an exceptional natural setting.

What makes the regatta unique on the Lac d'Aydat is the tactical dimension introduced by the sometimes unpredictable winds rolling off the volcanic massif. Reading the wind, choosing your heading, anticipating shifts, coordinating with your crew: real-time decisions that make this race a genuine exercise in team cohesion and collective strategy. The Auvergne volcanoes behind you, the lake spray on your face, the tension of the race: everything combines for an experience that stays in the memory.

Open to all group sizes and requiring no prior sailing experience, the Takamaka Clermont regatta suits groups looking for a competitive, sporty half-day just as well as Auvergne seminars seeking an original, well-structured nautical activity far removed from standard corporate formats.

How the activity works

1

Lakeside welcome and nautical briefing

On arrival at the Lac d'Aydat, the Takamaka Clermont team and their nautical partners welcome the group and introduce the catamarans. A handling briefing is delivered so that every crew member understands the basics of sailing, how to manage the catamaran and the rules of the race. No prior experience is required.
2

Launching and getting comfortable —

Crews take control of their catamarans and enjoy a short free-sailing phase to get used to the feel of the boat, how it responds to the wind and how to communicate effectively with their crew partner. The Lac d'Aydat, with its sometimes shifting winds and volcanic backdrop, provides an immediately striking sailing environment.
3

The Olympic Triangle regatta

On the starting signal, all catamarans line up and the race is on. The Olympic Triangle course demands upwind, downwind and reaching legs, testing each crew's tactical versatility and cohesion across the full race. The unpredictable winds rolling off the volcanic massif add a strategic dimension that can shuffle the standings right up to the final leg.
4

Finish, results and prize-giving

Each catamaran is given a finishing position in the atmosphere of a real race finish. The prize-giving celebrates the fastest and the most tactical crews in a convivial and lively atmosphere that naturally extends the team dynamic built out on the water.

Why choose Takamaka ?

The sailing regatta on the Lac d'Aydat is an activity that very few event agencies in Auvergne can deliver with the organisation of a genuine nautical competition. Takamaka Clermont draws on 7 years of local experience and trusted nautical partners to run a structured Olympic Triangle format, complete with a proper start, a finishing order and on-water animation, in the unique natural setting of the Lac d'Aydat surrounded by volcanoes.

The activity is fully managed end-to-end: site selection, catamaran provision, nautical briefing for participants without sailing experience, race supervision and closing prize-giving. Every crew leaves with the satisfaction of having raced on a real Auvergne lake, in a format that blends sport, strategy and team spirit.

The regatta scales to all group sizes and can be built into a broader seminar programme, paired with other nautical activities or a corporate evening organised by Takamaka Clermont. It is the incentive that genuinely goes beyond the expected, proving that real competitive sailing is possible just a few kilometres from Clermont-Ferrand.
