Description

Discovering sailing on one of Auvergne's most stunning lakes, ringed by volcanoes, with the waters of the Lac d'Aydat shimmering in the sun and the wind filling the sails for the very first time: that is what Takamaka Clermont's sailing incentive near Clermont-Ferrand delivers. Open to beginners and enthusiasts alike, the session starts with a thorough introduction to the boats and the basics of navigation, before letting teams loose on the water for a proper regatta. No passengers allowed: on board, every crew member has a specific role to play.

The collective dimension is at the heart of the experience. Sailing a boat as a team demands communication, anticipation and mutual trust. The helm, the sail trimmer, the wind reader: every role counts, and it is the whole group working together that makes the difference between winning and losing. In the exceptional natural setting of the Lac d'Aydat, with the puys on the horizon, the nautical incentive takes on a rare quality that is at once athletic, sensory and deeply convivial.

The session ends with the regatta, a festive and relaxed competitive moment that spotlights the most skilful and most cohesive crews. A shared memory that lasts long after the seminar, for groups of up to 50 people.

How the activity works

1

Lakeside welcome and boat introduction

On arrival at the Lac d'Aydat, the Takamaka Clermont instructor welcomes the group and introduces the boats. Everyone discovers the vessel, its basic elements (helm, sails, sheets) and the safety rules to be followed on the water. Teams are formed to balance the on-board roles.
2

Navigation basics briefing

Before heading out, the instructor covers the fundamentals of sailing: how to trim the sail to the wind, how to steer, how to communicate effectively with crew members. A short but essential phase that gives everyone the confidence they need to sail with some autonomy.
3

Free sailing and finding the feel

Crews take the helm and head out onto the Lac d'Aydat. A free-sailing phase gives them time to get comfortable with the boat, experiment, make mistakes, adjust and improve together. The instructor remains on hand to advise and encourage throughout.
4

The regatta and close

The session ends with the regatta, putting teams in direct competition on the lake. Every crew member holds their role from start to finish to get the boat to the line ahead of the others. The race ends on the lakeside in a festive and convivial atmosphere where the best sailing stories come out alongside the prize-giving.

Why choose Takamaka ?

The Lac d'Aydat is one of Auvergne's most beautiful volcanic lakes, and Takamaka Clermont knows every detail of it: the winds that cross it, the ideal conditions by season, and how to run a sailing session for a corporate group with no prior nautical experience. With 7 years of local experience, the team knows exactly how to structure the progression so that everyone moves from complete novice to confident crew member in the space of a few hours.

The activity is fully managed end-to-end: lakeside welcome, boat provision, instructor-led initiation and animated closing regatta. There is nothing else for you to organise beyond arriving. The sporting and competitive dimension of the regatta guarantees a level of engagement and team cohesion that is hard to match with less immersive activities.

Sailing on the Lac d'Aydat fits naturally into a broader seminar programme, paired with other nautical activities such as the catamaran regatta or a corporate evening organised by Takamaka Clermont. An afternoon on the water that often ends up creating the most lasting collective memories of an entire seminar.
