Description

Picture the envelope inflating slowly in your car park or garden, the ropes holding it to the ground in a final hush before the ascent, and your colleagues rising gently between 10 and 20 metres in the air, the Auvergne volcanoes stretching out beneath them in every direction. The tethered hot air balloon flight is the incentive that comes directly to you, at your seminar venue, with no transfers, no complex logistics, and all the magic of ballooning distilled into a format that is genuinely accessible to everyone.

Unlike a free flight, the balloon here is held by three ropes fixed to the ground. No drifting with the wind, no uncertain landing point: a controlled, silent and spectacular ascent that gives each group of 4 to 6 people a few minutes suspended between sky and volcanoes. In one hour, around 30 participants can experience the rise. A distinctive way to mark a seminar in Clermont-Ferrand or Auvergne with something your teams will not soon forget.

The tethered flight is also an ideal first step for anyone who has never quite dared the full balloon experience. Calm, gradual and free from any sensation of vertigo, it turns the most hesitant participants into converts. And since everything happens on your own site, the activity pairs naturally with other events in your day or evening programme.

How the activity works

1

On-site arrival and balloon assembly

The Takamaka professionals arrive at your event venue with all the equipment. The inflation and assembly of the balloon takes place in front of the participants, a first moment of discovery and wonder that sets the atmosphere before the first ascent. Participants are invited to help with the assembly for immediate immersion in the world of ballooning.
2

Briefing and safety rope installation

Before the first group goes up, the pilot walks everyone through the rotation schedule, safety guidelines and what to expect from the flight. The three ropes that keep the balloon tethered to the ground are installed and checked. Each group of 4 to 6 is then invited into the basket in turn.
3

The altitude rotations

The basket rises gently to between 10 and 20 metres in near-perfect silence. The Auvergne volcanoes reveal themselves from an angle that very few people ever see. After a few minutes suspended between sky and earth, the basket descends smoothly to welcome the next group. In one hour, approximately 30 participants can experience the ascent.
4

Close and pack-down

Once all rotations are complete, the balloon is brought down and packed away by the Takamaka team. This final moment, often filled with animated conversation between participants about what they felt, brings the collective experience to a natural and memorable close.

FAQ

Where can we organise a tethered hot air balloon flight in Auvergne?

Our professional balloon team can travel directly to your seminar or event venue. The activity can therefore be organised at your hotel, estate or event location, provided that the site is suitable and the landowner’s permission has been obtained.

How many people can take part in the activity?

The activity can accommodate approximately 30 participants per hour. Participants take turns in groups of 4 to 6 people, allowing everyone to enjoy the experience.

How long does the activity last?

Allow approximately 1 to 1.5 hours for the activity. The actual flight time may vary depending on weather conditions and wind.

How high does the hot air balloon go?

During a tethered flight, the balloon is secured to the ground with three ropes and rises approximately 10 to 20 metres above the ground. This allows participants to enjoy panoramic views of the Auvergne landscapes and volcanoes in a controlled environment.

Can people with a fear of heights take part?

Hot air ballooning is a gentle and peaceful activity. The ascent is gradual and there is generally very little sensation of height or falling. As the balloon only rises to a limited height during a tethered flight, it can be suitable for people who are usually uncomfortable with aerial activities.
